I bought the Zune for its ability to listen to Music, Watch Video, and Pictures. The Zune HD does all of these and does it well.
* Listening to music is fabulous, the interface is light and fast when selecting songs. A simple light flick of the finger and the next song starts immediately. The volume control can be accessed via a button on the side or by pressing the album picture on the screen. I like to listen to music in my car; I was concerned about using a touch screen with no tactile feedback while I drive; in fact, it is easy to change songs without having to take my eyes off the road.
* Video selection is fast and playback works fine. I downloaded a video from the marketplace and no problems to be had.
* Pictures are fast and you pinch to zoom. The color depth is amazing.
* The Zune 4.0 software is top quality, it is visually appealing. The initial evening, the program was slow, but has since become responsive. I hope that was because the software was busy cataloging my music collection.
* The Marketplace is sometimes slow when you drill down into categories, on a 20mbps connection. But the waiting time isn't unbearable.
* I have used the browser and onscreen keyboard. The browser is basic and allows me to check the news on the run. The onscreen keyboard takes getting used to, I'm a pretty slow onscreen keyboard typer. I gave Zune HD to an iPhone user and he was able to type a sentence quickly and with accuracy on the keyboard.
